The River City Rebels are a Sacramento-based club formed in 1994 by a handful of local runners who liked training and racing together. We now have over 60 members, both newcomers to the sport as well as those with over 45 years of running experience. As Mark Hicks, former club President, said in a recent newspaper interview, “We wanted something that was more competition oriented without the politics of a big club. I had no idea it would grow like this.” The name “Rebels” fits both the club’s founding spirit and its ongoing philosophy of training hard, racing often, and always having a good time. The River City Rebels are a handful of Northern California running clubs who compete in the USATF Pacific Division cross country and road races. We hold track, tempo run, long run, and fun/beer meet up workouts on a weekly basis.
The River City Rebels Running Club is an affiliate member of the RRCA. Through the RRCA, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 6pm.
