Train with Coach Zeb!

Experience:

  • Running personally for over 15 years, having raced track, cross-country, and road races; ranging from the 800m (half mile) all the way up to the full Marathon.
  • Coached runners from beginner to advanced including highschool to 70+ years old.
  • Student of physiology, exercise science, nutrition, metabolism, and strength and conditioning.

Philosophy: A holistic approach cognizant of all aspects of life and their influence upon performance including training, sleep, hydration, nutrition, recovery, including mental, social, and  emotional health.

  • Macro fitness planning (1 to 5 years): Periodization with base, pre competition, competition, and peaking phases to build fitness and unleash an athletes maximum potential during races, while promoting general well being.
  • Mesocycle (monthly): Progressive Overload where mileage, weight, intensity, and overall training stimulus are systematically cycled to maximize growth while avoiding injury.
  • Micro planning (daily and weekly): Based upon biomarkers such as heart rate/zone, sleep quality, hydration, macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein), micronutrition (vitamins & minerals), RPE (rate of perceived effort) to make educated and precise recommendations for daily exercise and recovery.

Method: An initial consultation is performed where previous experience and end goals are weighed against a fitness evaluation, to develop  personalized training plan. Then given the athlete’s schedule and time weekly check ins can be performed either during an in person workout or remotely to tailor and adjust the plan as necessary. Additionally I can be present before, during, and after a race for a pre race check in and warm up; along with a post race cool down and debrief on what worked and did not work. Athletes are strongly encouraged to use fitness watches and heart rate monitors to save their exercise data to the Strava fitness app for analysis in making prudent training decisions.
